Specifying and Reviewing Acoustical/Mechanical Studies
The shift to simpler packaged compressors combined with the reduction of design engineering staff at owner companies has led to incorrectly specified acoustical/mechanical studies in many cases. This paper explains the purpose and value of each component of a complete acoustical/mechanical analysis. Further, specific guidelines are developed defining which analysis components should be performed for a particular compressor installation. Finally, suggested formats for clearly presenting the study results are given so the reader can easily determine the extent and value of an acoustical/mechanical analysis.
