Equivalence Ratio Based on Air-Fuel Ratio Control Strategies
This paper is a follow-up to the short course Designing Engine Retrofits for Emissions Reductions that was presented at GMC2002. The paper summarizes the key elements of the short course materials and then shows how to use the elements to create a very robust air fuel ratio control system. Included in the paper are logic flow diagrams and the equations required to successfully implement an equivalence ratio based air:fuel ratio control strategy. Starting, stopping, on and off torque and speed operation are covered. The paper concludes with presentation and discussion of field results for machines using this type of control.
