Benchmarking the Industry Factors Affecting Compressor Station Maintenance Costs (Case Study)
A recently completed study for the PRCI analyzing compressor station maintenance costs has produced benchmark data for the gas pipeline industry. A deeper analysis of the data gathered for this effort, combined with additional information has revealed some key factors affecting the variances in compressor station maintenance costs. The effects of pipeline architecture, engine type and horsepower distribution on compressor maintenance costs are explored. The paper provides insights for the industry to assess company performance, identifies the primary cost drivers for compressor station maintenance, and offers guidelines for future improvements. Examples are provided showing how to use the benchmark cost correlation in financial computations, taking advantage of the statistical properties of the correlation to improve financial predictions.
