Contents Description: What every gas industry employee should know about environmental compliance a must have for employees who deal with environmental issues on a daily basis.
The SGA Layman's Guide to Environmental Issues in the Natural Gas Industry was developed and written by industry environmental professionals and consultants to provide a basic regulatory summary of the environmental regulations that directly affect the natural gas industry.
Introduction to Engine Emission Measurements Using FTIR Spectroscopy (EPA Method 320)
Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy is a state-of-the-art methodology that has been validated since 1994 via EPA Method 301 for use in engine emission measurements. FTIR can accurately measure virtually all engine emission species in real-time. This paper will provide an introduction to FTIR theory and operation with emphasis on application to engine emission measurements. FTIR theory includes basic spectroscopic principles and description of current instrumentation. An overview of EPA Method 320 with focus on method QA/QC is discussed. Typical FTIR detection limits are also given. The paper will also focus on FTIR measurements of hazardous air pollutants (HAP) species including formaldehyde.
