Contents Description: What every gas industry employee should know about environmental compliance a must have for employees who deal with environmental issues on a daily basis.
The SGA Layman's Guide to Environmental Issues in the Natural Gas Industry was developed and written by industry environmental professionals and consultants to provide a basic regulatory summary of the environmental regulations that directly affect the natural gas industry.
Types of Vibration Sensors Used on Reciprocating Compressors
It is important to understand the capabilities of vibration sensors in order to have confidence in the information learned by applying them. When applied to reciprocating compressors, however, it is more important to understand the limitations of vibration sensors for the same reason. It is also important to know how the readout electronics (transmitters, signal conditioners, monitoring channels and vibration analyzers) is processing the sensor signals. This is because the very part of the signal from the sensor that is important, based on the measurement type, could be concealed by the electronics in one of the signal processing stages. This course will review the basic operating theory of vibration sensors typically used on recips, which include: accelerometers, impact sensors, velocity pickups, non-contacting displacement probes, vibration transmitters, mechanical vibration switches, and electronic vibration switches. This discussion will provide a summary of the vibration measurements that are typically made on reciprocating compressors including recommended sensor mounting techniques. The presentation will also include a discussion on future considerations for sensor development and what the vibration monitoring vendors are doing to bring down the cost of safety shutdown systems for compressors.
