This course will address the solution of several problems that have plagued the monitoring of high-speed gas compressors on a continuous basis. Attention will be directed toward selection of pressure transducers used to sense cylinder bore pressures. Particular consideration will be given to the problem of eliminating the effects of indicator channel resonance on performance measurements: especially problematic on high-speed units. The special problems associated with indicating pressure and temperature at the compressor valves and suction/discharge flanges will be addressed and a solution will be suggested. Challenges connected with electrical wiring harnesses for compressor instrumentation will be discussed and a unique solution to one aspect of these problems will be proposed.
