Effects of Electronic Inductive Ignitions on Engine Performance and Emissions
With so many options available for today's source of ignition, it is no longer a simple choice of which system to use. The ignition source must be able to light off the mixture without fail. Electronic ignitions offer reliability, flexibility, and diagnostics. This paper will focus on one of the electronic types: inductive. The objective is to determine whether or not using an electronic inductive ignition system improves engine performance and what effects it has on the emissions output. In this paper, tests are conducted on several unit types. Included are tests done before and after a unit has been retrofitted with jet cells. This paper also presents details on how operators and technicians benefit from ignition diagnostics, both on-line and portable.
