Due to the potentially hazardous nature of using prime movers to compress natural gas, the integrity of the compressors and their related piping is crucial to safe and efficient operation. This course will cover correct compressor alignment, rod run-out (RRO), and other important gas path evaluation procedures. The student will learn how to align a compressor, take real time RRO and mathematically calculate what RRO should be based on the compressor and crosshead clearances, and evaluate compressor and crosshead planes and troubleshoot various compressor alignment problems. Student should have a basic understanding of geometry and be prepared to calculate assorted mathematical solutions.
