Application Guidelines: High Speed Gas Transmission Compressors
The goal of this paper is to provide the audience with insight into the unique problems and solutions for application of high speed compressors into gas transmission or other low ratio high flow scenarios. Traditionally, high speed compressors are designed for gas lift or other moderate ratio applications, the use of traditional compressor cylinders for low ratio application has pitfalls that need to be recognized. The larger the operating envelope (suction and discharge pressure ranges, flow requirements), the more difficult the application, and the problems that are revealed may result in the need to consider compressors of non-traditional design to minimize the impact of the problems. This paper will provide the audience application guideline, theoretical explanations, and examples of applications that illustrate the problems and solutions encountered with high speed gas transmission and other low ratio high flow scenarios.
