This short course explains, without the use of equations and based on everyday examples, the working principles of centrifugal compressors. The three governing principles, i.e., the application of a centrifugal force, the conversion of velocity into pressure (Bernoulli's Law), and the transfer of work from the impeller blades to the gas are demonstrated. The components of a typical centrifugal compressor and their working principles are described.
