GMRC 2013 Project Equipment Mounting - Stiffness Testing of Different Chocks and Support Designs
There are many chock options to mount machinery to a foundation, including milled steel blocks, grouts and epoxy resins, and adjustable chocks. Manufacturers of chocks may or may not provide the type of data required to perform an analysis to ensure adequate support and hold down force between the machinery and foundation. Package design engineers may then not be able to ensure their designs meet vibration guidelines set by industry standard and OEMs. This GMRC project met two goals: - Develop a standardized test procedure for the stiffness of chocks and other support designs that can be used by industry; and - Test a variety of different designs and provide engineering data to the industry. This data will aid engineers in the design of chocks and equipment mounting systems.
