Basic Theory of Gas Turbines & Centrifugal Gas Compressors
This short course covers the basic aerodynamic and thermodynamic principles of simple cycle industrial gas turbines and centrifugal compressors. Based on these principles, typical performance maps are discussed. One goal is to develop an understanding not only on how to use these maps, but also what the underlying physical effects described in these maps are. Other topics are combustion, in particular Dry-Low-NOx combustion for gas turbines and some thoughts on the operation of centrifugal compressors in particular in pipeline applications.
