Contents Description: What every gas industry employee should know about environmental compliance a must have for employees who deal with environmental issues on a daily basis.
The SGA Layman's Guide to Environmental Issues in the Natural Gas Industry was developed and written by industry environmental professionals and consultants to provide a basic regulatory summary of the environmental regulations that directly affect the natural gas industry.
This course will develop an understanding of the factors that cause fatigue failures and introduce the techniques that are currently available for analyzing fatigue in components and structures. Nearly all mechanical components and structures are frequently subjected to repeated, or cyclic, loadings that can lead to microscopic physical damage of the materials involved. Even at stress levels well below the material yield or ultimate strength, this damage can accumulate with applied cycles until it develops into a crack that may lead to the ultimate (and often catastrophic) failure of the component or structure. This process of accumulating material damage from repeated loading is referred to as fatigue. Although fatigue failures have been the subject of engineering efforts for over 150 years, fatigue continues to be a major concern in the design, fabrication, and operation of components and structures.
