Since the demise of the ICCR Process late in 1998, mid-range gas turbine manufacturers and users have been anxiously awaiting the publication of a draft MACT standard for gas turbines. Being in the dark for almost two years as to what the draft MACT standard would contain caused much speculation and most likely, unnecessary worry on the part of many mid-range gas turbine users. This paper will discuss the emission factors and targeted pollutants, four for natural gas and ten for liquid fuel, as published by EPA as they relate to mid-range gas turbines. The paper will also present first and life cycle cost analysis of the control devices anticipated to be required to meet the MACT standard and how the addition of the add-on control affects the operation and efficiency of the gas turbine.
